Years of Auditions

2011

PNB-
My first audition. I freaked out and cried. So that went really well.

2012

The Rock-
I still swear the directors said to each other, "I don't like her," while looking at me.
SAB-
I fell on my butt
PNB-
Nothing to report
ABT-
The teacher was from Eugene Ballet
SFB-
Nope.
Harid-
I don't even know.

2013

SAB-
Still can't do a entre sha six
PNB-
Turned the wrong way on a balance because they were playing Les Mis
SFB-
The correct pronunciation of coupe is COOP

The rest were a video audition that sucked.

Hopefully this year will be better. Ha.

University of Utah

The University of Utah is the only college I'm currently looking at. It is connected to the ballet company, Ballet West. This company is known for being the focus of the television show, "Breaking Pointe." The school works closely with the company, and students get to dance with the company. I have a tour of the campus set up and while I'm in Salt Lake City, I would audition for Ballet West's summer intensive. The problem with this, is that the next day in Los Angeles, is the audition for Pacific Northwest Ballet, which I really would like to attend. So I will probably be flying to SLC one day then the next day flying into LAX for the PNB audition. It'll be an expensive weekend!

Chicago

Next week I'm going to Chicago to dance. I'll miss a week of school but I get to dance with some of my dance teachers favorite teachers from her youth. I'm staying with a teacher from the Joffrey. She is from Venezuela and made me cry once. So that should be fun. I'll also be auditioning for some summer programs while I'm there. San Francisco Ballet, Kaatsbaan, Miami City Ballet, Houston Ballet, and I can't remember the other one! After I get back, I'm driving to Seattle for the American Ballet Theater Audition, so it should be a tiring week.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's birthday. He turned old. Like really old. But really.
Today my dad turns 69 years old. No joke, that's a 51 year age difference between the two of us. But I don't care if my dad was born when Hitler was still around, or that he was around before the civil rights movement was around, my dad is an amazing, smart, hard working guy, that made a life for my my mom and me from his determination to escape his home town, a tiny little town in Minnesota. Even though you grew up without a dad, dad, you're still the best dad that I could imagine. <3
Btw you look pretty dang good for 69

10 Resolutions for 2014

Each New Year brings us to rethink our lives and think of new ways to improve them. The rebirth of a new year lends us to think there is a rebirth in ourselves and therefore, we make resolutions. Very few people can keep them the whole year, but they are fun to brainstorm ways to better ourselves. Here are 10 of my New Year's Resolutions for 2014:

1. Spend less money
2. Actually write letters to the little girl I sponsor in Indonesia
3. Be nicer to my rabbit
4. Have more motivation towards everything
5. Go to a dance school for the 2014-2015 school year
6. Work out more (real original right? ;))
7. Get abs
8. Take better care of my body
9. Finish High School early
10. Be thankful for how lucky I am, and not complain as much

Nutcracker Season

This year, I did not participate in my towns annual production of the Nutcracker. The Nutcracker is a beloved ballet with music by Tchaikovsky that brings to life the dreams of a little girl on Christmas Eve night. Her dreams swirl with colorful Arabians, Chinese, Clowns, Flowers, Snow and the leader of this wonderful place, the Sugar Plum Fairy. Clara, the little girl, follows her toy Nutcracker through the Kingdom of Sweets until her sweet dreams are awakened. I did not participate in the Nutcracker this year, however I performed in the past. In past Nutcrackers I have portrayed, the Snowflakes, Flowers, Mirlitons, Parents, Rats, Dolls, as well as my favorite, the Sugar Plum Fairy. I am excited to go see the Nutcracker performed by the San Francisco Ballet later this year.
